My name is Tonya Matthews, and I have proudly been teaching at Weiner Elementary for six years. I currently teach literacy and social studies for grades 3-6. I have been in education for 14 years, working with grades Pre-K through 6.
I commute to work each day from Jonesboro, where I live with my son, JP, who is a 7th grade student. I consider Weiner Elementary and the community to be my second home. I have lived in Jonesboro my entire life, with the exception of my 4 years of undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi (GO REBELS!!!). I attended graduate school at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where I obtained a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
I truly love teaching. I believe a good sense of humor will make everything a bit easier, and I try to bring that into my classroom. Thank you for sharing your kids with me each day!
